A meeting organized by FIAN Sri Lanka was held on 16.10.2023 at the National Library Auditorium, Colombo, in conjunction with the World Food Day Exhibition to seek public input on the proposed Food Security Bill. It was headed by Mr. Suren Batagoda, Presidential Food Safety Adviser. Mr. Thilak Kariyawasam, Executive Director of Fian Sri Lanka also participated in it.

More than 70 people including FIAN corporate officers, representatives of Sinhala, Dravidian and Muslim active community organizations representing all parts of the island, trade union representatives and national civil organization representatives also participated in it. Mainly the elements of the proposed bill were discussed there.

In particular, the necessary suggestions and comments were obtained for inclusion in the draft of clauses affecting the people and clauses appropriate to the problems of the people.
