The establishment of the Small Traders and Daily Sellers Cooperative Society was held at Bandarawela on 04-09-2024. A lot of street vendors representing societies established in Jaffna, Vavunia, Bandarawela, Ella, Haputale, Balangoda and Panadura cities participated in that event. The special event that happened there was that the Uva Provincial Co-operative Department registered the Bandarawela Small Traders and Daily Sellers Cooperative Society as a Co-operative Society and awarded the relevant certificate.
Mr. Ibrahim Baqri, Advisor of “National Hawkers Federation” of India participated as a special guest on this occasion. Dr. A. M. S. Athapattu, Bandarawela Municipal Commissioner Mr. Gajendran Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Mr. Samarakoon, Haputale Public Health Inspector Mr. Roy Wijesuriya, Cooperative Officer Mrs. Nadeesha, Lawyer Mr. Sampath Pushpakumara, Mr. Gemunu Saliya Perera representing the Public Health Inspectors Association participated in it. On behalf of The Asia Foundation Mrs. Anuradhi Perera, Senior Program Officer Mr. Mohammad Raslan (Consultant – SAGP) participated in the event. Executive Director Mr. Thilak Kariyawasam, President Mr. S. Visvalingam, Program Manager Mr. Asanka Ratnayake, Food Program Specialist Mr. Fazly Mohammad, Provincial Coordinator Mr. H. A. C.
