The Batticaloa District Program to launch the findings and report of the survey conducted through the Household Food Security Investigation Program implemented by FIAN Sri Lanka was successfully held on 22nd January at the Batticaloa YMCA Hall.
Mrs. Justina Muralitharan (District Secretary, Batticaloa), Mrs. Amutheni Sugirtharan (Faculty of Agriculture, Eastern University), Mrs. Sujatha Kulendrakumari (Regional Director – Education) participated and expressed their views.
This survey, which was conducted to identify the problems existing in the food security, food rights, nutritional needs and safe food systems of the people, was carried out in the year 2024, covering 20 Divisional Secretariat Divisions of 10 selected districts of Sri Lanka.
The event was hosted by FIAN Sri Lanka’s President S. Vishwalingam, Food Programme Specialist Fasly Mohamed and Coordinator Lal Jayasekara.
This was a great opportunity to engage with various stakeholders and foster collaborative efforts to ensure food security and build a sustainable future for Sri Lanka.
