Prime objective of the workshop is to provide proposals for new constitution; the
government is planning to development withing short time. Public proposals are allowed
until 30 th November this year. In addition to developing constitutional proposals, FIAN
Sri Lanka has requested the government to extend the current closing date for proposal
submitting until further few months allowing more time to responding to the public. As
the Sri Lanka has been leading a critical time period due to prevailing COVID 19
pandemic, general publics are not received enough time for responding to the new
constitution amides this chaotic situation.
As the FIAN Sri Lanka more concerned about Food right, the workshop was more
focused on development of constitutional proposals relating to food right but keen
attentions were made to include ESCR rights too.
