FIAN Sri Lanka and the National Preschool Development Foundation have worked together to organize a series of lectures on “Food Security and Nutrition” for preschool teachers with the aim of creating a basic foundation and healthy children for the birth of a healthy future generation. As the first step in this series of lectures, an awareness program for 35 pre-school teachers selected in the Western Province was held on 16.11.2023 at the Western Province Education Training Center. Pre-school teachers from Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha districts participated in this. The program was initiated by FIAN Sri Lanka President S. Vishwalingam, Executive Director Thilak Kariyawasam and National Preschool Development Foundation Director KL Gunaratne. Dr. Lakmini Magodarathne, Director of Nutrition Division of the Ministry of Health, FIAN Sri Lanka Food Program Specialist Fazly Mohamed, Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Public Health Inspector Gemunu Saliya Perera led the relevant lectures. Certificates were also presented to the participating teachers.
