A workshop on preparing delicious and nutritious traditional Sri Lankan dishes using local yams

A workshop on preparing delicious and nutritious traditional Sri Lankan dishes using local yams was held on 28 October 2026 at the Aranayake Community Development Centre.

Green Action Week: Act for a Sustainable Food Future

Green Action Week, supported by Consumers International, sponsors this initiative, which aims to raise consumer awareness and promote sustainable consumption practices.

Building a sustainable food future is not the responsibility of governments, farmers, or institutions alone. Each of us has a role to play. We can all contribute to creating change by choosing diverse and nutritious foods, reducing food waste, supporting local farmers, protecting soil and water resources, conserving biodiversity, and respecting the knowledge and rights of food producers.

As part of this initiative, FIAN Sri Lanka is also conducting a public awareness programme to promote sustainable food choices, environmentally friendly agricultural practices, and a food system that respects the rights of both consumers and food producers.

Let’s work together towards a future where healthy, nutritious, and sustainable food is accessible to everyone !
