In order to strengthen the Citizen Voices to Enhance Demand for Democratic Governance and Accountability at the Local Level- Focus on Safeguarding Citizen Rights of Street Vendors -Sri Lanka, Street vendors meeting took place in Bandarawela at Bandarawela Municipal Council on the 18th June 2022 with the participation of high-level officials in the Municipal Council.

In response to the pre-awareness sessions taken place, Bandarawela Street Vendors were able to establish their street vendor association and appointed the relevant committee members.

By the formation of this association, it is expected to strengthen the street vendors’ unity so that they can get collective decisions for their future activities than individual efforts.  In another word, it will consider as the first step to giving due recognition for their profession.
